Supervised Literacy Practicum

Literacy is one of the important key to learning.  Schools that focuses on providing early literacy skills to its students are preparing them to reading success.

Course Information

Student-Teaching

In the course EDRD 633 and 637, we were able to apply what we have been learning about literacy during our summer internship in 2011.  I had the chance to tutor a rising 5th grader who needed some support in further developing her reading repertoire.  Keeping in mind that the student was identified as an English Language Learner, the lesson planning took into account the student's interest that may increase her engagement in the learning process.

Mentoring

One of the key projects under the ASTL program is the ability to plan for and provide mentoring in our own school.  In EDRD 634, we learned the different hats we may wear and how we can use our knowledge to influence change through our interactions with the different stake-holders in our school environment.
